Bashundhara Paper Drawing Exhibition begins in city
A three-week long ‘Bashundhara Paper Drawing Exhibition-2015’ began in the city’s Bashundhara City Shopping Mall on Saturday.
The exhibition titled “Hat Dea Dekha, Chokh Dea Aka” was jointly arranged by Atur Ghar, Bashundhara City Develop-ment Ltd. and Bashundhara Paper Mill.
Organisers hoped that the exhibition would be a successful one as around one lakh people visit the shopping mall every day.
Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor attended the programme as the chief guest while eminent artist and cartoonist Rafiqun Nabi inaugurated the programme. Kaler Kantho Editor Imdadul Haq Milan was present as special guest while TIM Latiful Hossain, senior advisor (technical) to the chairman of Bashundhara Group and in-charge of Bashundhara City Shopping Mall, presided over the programme.
Speaking at the inaugural programme, Asaduzzaman Noor said culture and arts are being destroyed as practice of culture is now absent at schools and colleges. Guardians are now busy so that their children can achieve GPA-5, the minister said.
He welcomed the arrangement of cultural programme at the shopping mall and said it is a unique step in the country’s cultural arena.
Country’s culture will get life if big organisations like Bashundhara Group take this type of initiative. Many people will get chance to see the arts at the shopping mall, the minister said.
Artist Rafiqun Nabi welcomed the step taken by the Bashundhara Group and said cultural programmes are regularly being arranged by the authorities of different shopping malls in many countries. So, Bashundhara Group can also arrange such programme at their shopping mall, he added. Kaler Kantha Editor Imdadul Haq Milon said Bashundhara Group has been working for the country and people.
He said Bashundhara Group chairman is a creative and visionary man.
Milon also urged the authorities to set up a modern library at the shopping mall.
TIM Latiful Hossain thanked Atur  Ghar for arranging the exhibition.
He said this type of exhibition is being arranged at shopping mall and it is popular in other countries. Bashundhara Group will continue its support for this type of exhibition, Latiful said.

Paintings of artists Abdul Halim Chanchal, Partho Pratim Kundu, Abdella Sayeed, Saifullah Bin Asad, and Adoito Oviggan are being exhibited.
