No newspaper will exist without quality: Ahmed Akbar Sobhan

There are a good number of newspapers in our country, more are likely to come. But, none will exist without maintaining its quality. We hope that the Bangla daily ‘Desh Rupantor’ will be able to do so.

Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan came up with the statements while delivering good will speech at the first anniversary programme of the daily Desh Rupantor at Rupayan Tower in Bangla Motor of the capital on Monday.

Ahmed Akbar Sobhan also wished Rupayan Group Chairman Liaquat Ali Khan Mukul, owner of the newspaper, with a wreath of flowers. Bashundhara Group Vice Chairmen Shafiat Sobhan accompanied the Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan on the occasion.

The Bashundhara Group Chairman also said, “Basically we are businessmen. But we step into the media world with our only motto of branding Bangladesh. We are working relentlessly on how to brand Bangladesh. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working day and night to materialise the dream of Bangabandhu’s Golden Bangladesh. We hope that we will be able to brand Bangladesh as a developed country in the world stage.”

Bashundhara Group Donates Land to Ansar-VDP

Bashundhara Group, the country’s leading business conglomerate, donated a piece of land to Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Party (Ansar-VDP) for building an office complex for the paramilitary auxiliary force.

Top officials of the Ansar-VDP received the documents of 82.5 decimals of land from Bashundhara Group at a ceremony held at Bashundhara Industrial Headquarters-1 in the capital on Monday.

Bashundhara Group Managing Director Sayem Sobhan Anvir handed over the land documents to Ansar-VDP Additional Director General Firoz Khan.

Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan and Vice-Chairmen Shafiat Sobhan Sanvir and Safwan Sobhan Tasvir were present at the land handover ceremony.

An Ansar-VDP office complex will be constructed on the land in Bashundhara Residential Area.

Additional Director General of the force Brigadier General AKM Asif Iqbal and some senior officers also attended the event.

Bashundhara Group also gave two plots of 66 decimals and 16.50 decimals to Ansar-VDP in exchange for land of the force.

The two plots will be used for housing and other purposes for the Ansar-VDP members.

The land donation is a token contribution of Bashundhara Group to Ansar-VDP members who are working relentlessly to ensure security of the people.

Ahmed Akbar Sobhan Attended at Kaler Kantho 10th Anniversary

Country’s leading Bangla daily the Kaler Kantho stepped into the 11th year of its journey on Friday with a renewed pledge to uphold the spirit of liberation war for developing a non-communal Bangladesh.

On the occasion of the founding anniversary, the daily organised a day-long get-together and reception programme at the International Convention City Bashundhara (ICCB) in the capital.

Ministers, lawmakers, political leaders from different parties, foreign diplomats, leaders from journalist unions, print and electronic media, editors, readers, patrons and well-wishers joined the event. A total of 25 eminent personalities were awarded by the daily for their outstanding contribution to different fields of the country. They received Tk 1 lakh cheque each and a crest.

Speaker of Jatiya Sangshad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury attended the function as the chief guest while Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan was the guest of honour.

Among others, Housing and Public Works Minister SM Rezaul Karim, Health Minister Zahid Maleque and Disaster and Relief Minister Md Enamur Rahman, and diplomats from India and China, were also present on the occasion.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury said the daily Kaler Kantho has gained unique readership through practising objective journalism.

“The nation is celebrating the historical homecoming day of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman today. The newspaper is also celebrating its founding anniversary marking its 10th anniversary of upholding the spirit of the liberation war in news and contents,” she said.

Besides, the newspaper has also played a courageous role in projecting positive stories of the country and development strategies of the government, she said.

The Speaker also expressed hope that the newspaper will be able to uphold its success by practising objective journalism.

Appreciating the awardees, Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan said the enlighten personalities are not only lighthouses for Bangladesh but also their contributions to the world acclaimed internationally.

He reiterated the commitment of media outlets of the East West Media Group Ltd (EWMGL) to continue their high professionalism upholding the spirit of the liberation war. He said the newsmen working in EWMGL also project the positive and development of stories of the country with honesty and sincerity.

Referring to the contribution of the Father of the Nation, the Bashundhara Group Chairman said: “We would not have achieved today’s progress had Bangabandhu not liberated the country. The ideals of the Father of the Nation acted behind all development of the country.”

He said Bangladesh achieved tremendous development in all sectors under the dynamic leadership of Bangabandhu’s worthy daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. She (Hasina) is working relentlessly to turn the country into Sonar Bangla as envisaged by Bangabandhu.

Ahmed Akbar Sobhan Inaugurated the 3rd Anniversary of Radio Capital

Radio Capital, a private radio station, representing frequency modulation (FM) of 94.8, has stepped into fourth years of its operation on Thursday with a fresh pledge to reach all corners of Bangladesh within this year.

The broadcasting media of East West Media Group Limited (EWMGL), celebrated third founding anniversary on Thursday amid festivity and special programmes.

Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan inaugurated the anniversary celebration by cutting a cake along with editors of media outlets under EWMGL flag at the radio station’s head office in the capital.

Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan said Radio Capital has gained place in top of the minds of the listeners by broadcasting quality progammes.

“We establish media to lead the country to prosperity projecting success tale of people. People have been listened radio since many decades as most traditional platform of communications. Our ancestors depended on radio as authentic source of information,” he flashed back to glory of radio medium.

Akbar Sobhan also mentioned that Radio Capital along with other entities of EWMGL has been leading respective domains gaining popularity showing excellence.

“Our media group is the largest combo in the South Asia region of its kind. We have successful presence in Europe and America alongside of leading Bangladesh market. We have planned to start footprint in Middle East in near future,” he added.

He also directed the management of Radio Capital to take initiative to start countrywide operations to reach more people with quality programmes.
