Ahmed Akbar Sobhan to donate Tk 1m to Bishwajeet’s family

ahmed akbar sobhanDHAKA: The Chairman of the top most industrial and commercial force of the country Bashandhara group- Ahmed Akbar Sobhan decided to support Bishwajeet’s family who brutally killed by BCL miscreants at Jagannath University area on December 9, 2012 during road-blockade of the opposition 18-party.

Akbar Sobhan declared 1 million taka humanitarian aid to deceased family. In no time Bashundhara Chairman will handed over the money to Bishwajeet’s mother Kalpana Rani Das.

Saturday in a meeting with the editors of East West Media Group Akhar Sobhan announced this humanitarian aid. Editor in chief of Banglanews24.com Alamgir Hossain, Editor Kaler Kantho Emdadul Haque Milon, Editor Bangladesh Protidin Nayim Nijam and the Daily Sun Editor Amir Hossain along with the senior journalists were in the meeting.

Bishwajeet was brutally killed by miscreants of BCL on December 9, 2012 during BNP led 18 party’s road blocked programme was undergone. Miscreants beat Bishwajeet with iron rod and chop with chapatti cruelly. Nobody even nearby police helped him.

Whole country people were shocked by this barbaric Killing of Bishwajeet.

Ahmed Akbar Sobhan condoles Ataus Samad’s death

Chairman of Bashundhara Group and East West Media Group Limited Mr. Ahmed Akbar Sobhan has expressed deep condolences at the death of eminent journalist Ataus Samad.

In a condolence message on Thursday he said, “The way Ataus Samad played a pioneering role in the movement for establishing democracy in the country, similarly he was a frontline journalist to project abroad the country’s image and successes achieved in various fields. The nation will always remember with admiration his contribution to the growth of objective journalism and development of newspapers in the country.”

Mr. Sobhan prayed for the salvation of the departed soul of Ataus Samad and conveyed his profound sympathy to the members of the bereaved family.

Ahmed Akbar Sobhan donates Tk 0.5m for journos’ welfare

Country’s leading conglo-merate, Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan, Saturday donated Tk 5 lakh to Brahmanbaria Press Club members’ welfare fund.

BG Finance Adviser Moynal Hossain Chowdhury handed over a cheque for Tk 5 lakh to the journalists’ leaders at a function held at the press club at noon.

SM Sirajul Islam, member of the welfare fund, presided over the function while the BG finance adviser addressed it as chief guest.

Former deputy minister and editor of Dainik Dindarpan Humayun Kabir, Press Club president Syed Mizanur Reza, general secretary Riaz Uddin Jami, former president Mohammad Arzu, among others, spoke on the occasion.

Addressing the function, Moynal Hossain said, “Bashundhara Group has an attraction on Brahmanbaria. That’s why the company has provided financial support for the welfare of the journalists. The flow of assistance will continue in the future.”

In his speech, Riaz Uddin Jami said Bashundhara Group is working for the welfare of the journalists across the country.

“The BG provided financial assistance to the journalists for their welfare,” Jami said, adding that the company has close relation with the people in Brahmanbaria.

He mentioned that local journalists will be grateful to Bashundhara Group for contributing to their welfare fund.

Mohammad Arzu said the steps taken by Bashundhara Group to help journalists are rare.

Press Club president Syed Mizanur Reza also expressed his gratitude to Bashundhara Group for providing financial support.

The speakers also said Bashundhara Group was playing important roles in the national economy.

They invited Bashundhara Group Chairman Ahmed Akbar Sobhan to visit Brahmanbaria Press Club.

While delivering his speech as the chief guest, Moynal Hossain said, “All people of the district seem to be my own people as I feel deep attraction for my motherland. The group will be happier if it helps you more.”

While commemorating his childhood days in the district, he became emotional.

Later, he visited the Press Club and talked to journalists. The journalists’ leaders thanked the group authority for extending the hands of support to them.
